Yeah, I'm trying to get myself motivated to do this comic with these characters and post it on deviantart. So far, I have yet to formulate a real plotline.
Skip this part if you're too lazy to read.
You may have to full view to see all of them in their HAND-DRAWN GLORY! So they are, from left to right, top to bottom:
*Artemis: Goddess of the Moon, the Hunt, and Childbirth. Also known as Diana, and is a close friend to Minerva. She's very popular among the mortals, but has a bit of a temper, which worsens near her twin brother.....
*Apollo: God of the Sun, Music, and Prophecy. Known universally as Apollo. He's the only god to be able to see into the future. Twin brother of Artemis. Both of them are archers. He's a little more passive.
*Latona: Also known as Leto. She's the mother of Apollo and Artemis, and makes sure that they don't cause any severe mayhem on Mount Olympus.
*Hera: Queen of the Gods. Goddess of marriage (she's the goddess of something else, but I'm not sure what it is. ). Wife of Zeus. She's also known as Juno. Her eyes are green for jealousy. She's only ever really angry at Zeus's "offspring".
*Helios: Ancient Greek god of the sun before Apollo. He was never in the Roman pantheon. He's ever-so-patient and the other gods gave him the nickname "Father Time" for his age and wisdom.
*Demeter: Goddess of the harvest and the seasons. Mother of Persephone. She's also known as Ceres. She's overly protective of her daughter, and is often found with a pot beating Hades in the head with it over "that one summer"......
*Hades: God of the Underworld, the dead, and wealth. Known as Pluto in the Roman pantheon. He's the brother of Zeus and Poseidon, and lost the draw that they had over control of different parts of the world. He's very grim, and isn't good or evil, but he loves Persephone very much. He has his three-headed dog Cerberus in the palm of his hand, and often has idle chat with Charon the ferryman of the river Styx. Demeter doesn't like him.
*Persephone: Also known as Proserpina. Wife of Hades, Daughter of Zeus and Demeter, Goddess of the Underworld, and the most beautiful girl in the world. She's momma's little girl, and doesn't like Hades after "that one summer"......
*Ares: Also known as Mars. God of war, and father of Romulus and Remus, the legendary twins who found Rome. He's always trying to wage war with someone, and often gets into fights with Minerva over whether they are justified or not. He's devoted to Aphrodite.
*Aphrodite (needs DESPERATELY to be redrawn): Goddess of love, often symbolized by the dove. She's also called Venus by the Romans. She's the wife of Vulcan, god of blacksmithing and the only crippled god on Mount Olympus, but she really loves Ares. Her spoiled son is Eros/Cupid. She's actually a lot more cunning than she appears to be, causing the Trojan War....
*Poseidon: God of the Sea, creator of horses and the cyclops, brother of Zeus and Hades. In the Roman pantheon, he's Neptune. He won control of the sea, but he didn't really care for control either way. Very passive, like the sea, but you don't want to fire up his temper, or you will FACE HIS WATERY WRATH!
*Household Spirit: They have a Latin name, but I can't remember what it is. They are the dead family members that inhabit houses and need to be constantly kept in mind. Unfortunately, this little guy, "Charlie", was disowned and forgotten, so he found a home on Mount Olympus, annoying the other gods with his Woodstock-the-bird-like chatter. He most often annoys Zeus, and he loves Artemis.
*Zeus: Also called Jupiter. King of the Gods, and god of the sky. Brother to Hades and Poseidon, who won the bet for control of the sky. A fair and just god, but he always fools with the ladies. "Charlie" sometimes bugs him about this. He's patient, and makes the universal decisions concerning the world, or at least, the major disputes between the gods.
*Minerva: Known as Athena to the Greeks. Goddess of handicrafts (weaving and such) and just wars. She took the side of the Trojans in the Trojan War. She doesn't like Ares, and is a close friend of Artemis. She's calm most of the time, but like the other gods, gets extremely angry when someone boasts that they're better than her in some way or other.
*Hercules: Known as Heracles in Greece (Disney got it WRONG! O_O), son of Zeus and Alcmene. Had to perform the Twelve Labors to become a god. He's the god of atheletes. The Amazons don't like him after he got Queen Hippolayta's girdle.
*Mercury: Hermes to the Greeks. God of Thieves, Merchants, and Communication. He's understood by everyone, although he does speak in American and British slang most of the time. He doesn't like to swear, and he REALLY doesn't like it if you make fun of his wings. He has a tendency to disappear when you need him.
And THERE YOU GO! The Greek/Roman gods, the result of creativity, human nature, and a smidgeon of inbreeding (Zeus is married to his sister for god's sake.......wait, god? I'm so confused). I have little comics of them for my Latin class, but I haven't been able to scan them so far due to a piece of shit memory I have in possession in between my ears. At least these guys have color in the comics.
These designs are copyright to ME! I claim them, dammit!
Hera is the goddess of marriage and childbirth... I think In Roman and Greek mythology there are over 150 counted cases of Zeus' infidelity. just a random fact^_^; Here's the big think I don't get, though. Can't figure out why Athena took the side of the Trojans. Paris of TROY kidnaped Helen, so they're the ones who started it. Doesn't seem all that just to me.*scratches head* Great job on the characters! *randomly vanishes*
